How many times do you see a book promoted on a blog or website and think “I must read that” and then seconds later move on, never to download said book, let alone read it?
Books I’m thinking of reading. Apps I intend on using. Blogs I should follow. Podcasts I really must listen to. The list goes on. And on.
But it’s just that. A list. And as the list grows, it becomes more and more intimidating and we achieve less despite wanting to do more.
During the pandemic these activities have taken on an added pressure as some of us have all of this so-called ‘extra time’ in which to reflect and focus on our self development. But, if you’re like me, you feel too distracted or listless to actually do anything.
It’s easy to get distracted and sometimes even a struggle to focus but small steps can achieve big goals (or at least make you feel like you’ve achieved something).
Ask yourself: what’s actually stopping you taking one small step? Just picking one book to read or choosing one blog to follow? Just do it. Make the time, even if it’s just 10 minutes. Shut off the distractions and focus. For just 10 minutes.
Start…you don’t need to finish. Just start.
You’ll be surprised how many ‘things to do’ turn into ‘things that are done’ when you take them one small step at a time.
